Keto Maple Syrup Recipe – Homemade
My keto maple syrup recipe is perfect for various reasons. The sugar-free pancake syrup is as good as traditional maple syrup but just happens to be keto-friendly. So if you’re looking for low-carb maple syrup, look no further than this delicious homemade recipe.
Let’s be honest. Maple syrup makes everything taste better. Whether it’s something you sprinkle over your favorite Keto Pancakes Recipe, waffles or our own Almond Flour Chaffle Recipe, the syrup just seems to elevate your foods. But unfortunately, it’s not the most keto-friendly food out there, which is why I had to look for a substitute.
After trial and error, I managed to come up with a keto syrup recipe that my family just loves, especially my kids who are obsessed with it. Here’s how you can make your own delicious keto syrup.
Is maple syrup keto-friendly?
Regular maple syrup is high in sugar, making it a non-keto-friendly food. However, by altering a traditional syrup recipe and adding keto ingredients, you too can continue to enjoy it even on a keto diet.
Ingredients
- 2 cups water
- 1 tbsp Maple extract
- ½ – 1 tsp Vanilla extract
- ½ – 1 cup Sweetener (preferably Erythritol)
- ½ tsp Xanthan gum
Step by step Instructions
- Whisk together the water, maple extract, and the Xanthan gum in a small bowl. Let it sit for five minutes to allow the mixture to thicken.
- Add the sweetener to a saucepan and heat it on low heat until it starts to simmer. Stir it occasionally to keep the sweetener from thickening or creating lumps. Let the syrup sit for a couple of minutes to allow it to thicken.
- Finally, add the vanilla extract and continue to whisk until the mixture is well blended.
- Let it cool until you get your desired consistency and temperature.
- Serve it with chosen foods. Happy eating!
