Blue crab

This crab is known for its sapphire-colored shell and resides in Europe, Japan, the Gulf of Mexico, and the East Coast of the US. It has an impressive size and can grow to a staggering 9 inches (23 cm).  Serve it grilled or sauteed.

Stone crab

This expensive crab is considered a delicacy and is famous for its tough claws. You can find it in places like the Gulf of Mexico, the Bahamas, and Cuba, as well as the western North Atlantic of the United States. Also known as the Florida Stone Crab, it’s a must-try when visiting the state.

Dungeness Crab

A crab with a rich taste, the Dungeness crab is a kind that’s popular due to its unique flavor. A single crab can weigh up to four lbs (1.8 kg), offering an abundance of meat, however, they’re not cheap.

Is imitation crab keto?

Imitation crab, is different, it is processed fish meat made from starch and wrapped in surimi – a minced fish paste. Also known as crab sticks, they are a very cost-friendly option but highly processed, which means, it is a no-go on a keto diet.


How many carbs in imitation crab?

Since imitation crab is processed food, it may not come as a surprise that it is high in carbs. The crab sticks contain a whopping 47.06 g carbs, 20.59 g protein, and 7.35 g fat. In other words, consuming it often may kick you out of ketosis.
