Backpacking is an amazing way to appreciate nature as you wander through the trails discovering the world on a budget. Whether you’re doing it domestically in your own backyard or while on vacation, you’re bound to discover new sides of yourself. But what happens when you’re on a strict low-carb diet? Here’s everything you need to know about backpacking on a keto diet.

Going on holiday when you’re on a diet can be challenging. But it gets trickier when you’re backpacking. As you trek around an area far away from home, you’ll have to adjust your keto diet plan to ensure you consume the right foods. Hiking will require you to seriously up your water intake, especially if you’re trekking in a warm city. Your body will experience water loss on a low-carb diet, and as you begin to sweat, your body will start to function differently. That is why you should bring electrolyte supplements, as they include potassium, magnesium and sodium, which are minerals that will keep you hydrated throughout your journey.
